Devlog - 54 [Minor News]



Changes:

Made numerous misc adjustments to the blue jumpsuit sprites.

"Finished" reworking and adding new animations to the underwear sprites, some showcased in the gif.

Reworked some parts of the in-game intro cutscene.

You can no longer view the upgrade screen without a full suit on. (serves a bit like progression)

The old previously removed green lights during the tutorial sequence are now enabled when choosing "yes" on the tutorial screen.

Tweaked misc player animation speeds.

Updated misc object sprites.

Updated misc HUD icons.

Updated a few rooms.

Fixed 3 bugs / issues.

And finally, started actually reworking the suit sprites.

As expected, most of this week went into spriting and animating the underwear sprites.

So if you have any feedback for these new sprites showcased in the gif, feel free to tell me, I'm always looking to improve when I can.

Next week will most likely be the same thing but for the geo suit sprites.

And then when that is done, I can finally get to working on setting up a new demo, but more on that later.

In other news, I'll be launching a Patreon some time soon. (probably next week, provided nothing goes wrong)

Now, I understand this might not be that interesting to most of you but this is something I need to do at this point.

The purpose of this Patreon is to set up a way for people who would like to support me and my games, to do just that.

So, more on that later as well.

The kicks are a little weightless... For a good kick the whole body should move to increase the damage being done. At the moment it's like she's afraid of stubbing her toes when she kicks something.

Sure I can see that but the kick is also supposed to be a bit like that.

It's supposed to be kind of like any random person kicking a football with no real experience in kicking.

But I'll see what I can do about it later, thanks for the feedback.

I guess I've seen two versions of the random person kicking something. The first is the "I don't want to get hurt" (which I don't get the impression from the rest of the way your character acts, she walks too confident with bare feet to worry about hurting them when she kicks) or the "I don't know what I'm doing but I'm going to try anyway!" which usually ends up with people spinning out or falling over (neither of which is really good for the game).

Maybe add a bit of wobble or arm flapping/windmilling (to keep her balance) to make it more obvious she doesn't know what she's doing?

Yeah I don't know, it's definitely not going to be a "spin out" or "falling over" type of deal, and it's not *really* an "I don't want to get hurt" one either.

It's not supposed to be a martial arts kick or anything either, it's just a kick, so I don't know.

Adding wobble and/or arm flapping etc might be going too much into comedy territory, which is not really something I want.

It's also just going to be used for a short period of time so I think it works good enough for now, I'll likely go back and try to improve it later.

Everything is much better than what it was before this rework anyway.

Yeah, she became a bit thicker by accident but that's fine. ;)

Well she now looks a bit chubby (some may say thicc lol)

Does she have a name yet?

Yeah I know, but I think part of the reason it looks thicker is because I was going for an angle more aimed towards the camera instead of side ways.

She kinda has a name but it's secret for now. ;)
